Our team at ROOTs has been busy this summer with exciting things! Check out what we’ve been up to below!

JUNE

ROOTs Celebrates 3rd Birthday!
On June 14th, 2021 ROOTs opened its doors. Since we opened, we have served 94 clients including those currently in the program. We may have a few more gray hairs since then but we feel so much gratitude to our team of incredible humans!! Cheers to many more years to come…

JULY

Transforming Trauma Podcast with Kami Black

On this episode of Transforming Trauma, host Emily Ruth is joined by Kami Black, LCSW, founder of ROOTs Transitions, a program that supports adolescent females ages 15 to 18 and their families by blending elements of outdoor therapy and residential treatment in Park City, Utah. The pair explore ROOTs’ commitment to utilizing NeuroAffective Relational Model™ (NARM®) as both a therapeutic modality and a rubric for staff engagement. They also discuss the program’s assessment, treatment, and reintegration phases, plus the value of embracing and navigating dysregulation within the safety of the on-site therapeutic environment.

NeuroAffective Relational Model™ (NARM®) Contracting Webinar

Kami and Jaime hosted a webinar to discuss the power of the Contracting process in NeuroAffective Relational Model™ (NARM®). If you missed it and would like to learn more, here is a link to the recording:

ROOTs Community Camping & Rafting Trip

Clients ventured out for a community camping trip. They explored Dinosaur National Monument located in Eastern Utah. This area is known for its geologic history, world class recreation and stunning landscape of sandstone cliffs and high desert plateaus. Clients rafted on the Green River for our first day of the trip and spent the rest of their time seeing dinosaur bones, swimming in the river and hiking around the National Monument. Temperatures were hot so thankfully we were able to camp on the river under large cottonwood trees. At night, we spent time connecting around the campfire with nature and each other.

NeuroAffective Relational Model™ (NARM®) Workshop at ROOTs

ROOTs held two in-person trainings hosted by the Complex Trauma Training Center. Friday, July 19th was an Introduction to NARM® Workshop. Saturday, July 20th was a NARM® Demonstration Workshop. NARM® plays a foundational role in the work we do at ROOTs. It was exciting for us to be able to share this modality with other helping professionals and members of our community.

At ROOTs, we partner with our clients and see them as capable of accessing the change within.

ROOTs currently has space to take new clients. If you think one of your clients could benefit from joining the ROOTs Transition community, please contact us for more information.
