Therapy

At ROOTs Transition, we help teen girls overcome challenges like depression and anxiety through the use of a holistic therapeutic approach. We use a trauma-informed approach to guide students through their obstacles in a safe, supportive environment.

Therapeutic modalities include:

  • NeuroAffective Relational Model
  • Trauma-Informed
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
  • Brainspotting and Somatic Experiencing
  • Trauma-Focused Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy

Healing trauma is a delicate process. Our therapists are trained in trauma-informed treatment to help students safely explore their past. Students receive the support they need to overcome challenges related to their trauma in order to grow and thrive.

Trauma-informed components to treatment and training:

  •       Consent through invitational language and curiosity
  •       Honoring and validating strategies
  •       Highlighting self-agency
  •       Titrating psychobiological shifts
  •       Focusing on relationships and impact

Our Hybrid Model

ROOTs Transition understands the importance of providing a spectrum of care, not only to our students, but also to the families involved.  By creating a hybrid using Reflection and Residential care, we are able to meet the needs of our students throughout their journey with consistency and predictability.

Our primary goal is moving through the different areas within the house, while maintaining positive relationships.  Throughout their stay, students will continue with their therapist and the guides with whom they have connections. Girls will have the flexibility to move between phases during their stay, depending on their current needs. Students will continue to have opportunities for growth and chances to practice their new skills as they progress through the program.

Utilizing the knowledge and skills they gain by putting it into action is key to long-lasting change. After completing treatment, students and families are working to fully integrate into the next phase of life with the support of our Transition Specialist and Clinical Team.

Healing is a journey, and flexibility within that journey is key to meeting individual needs. We are here to support you and you and your daughter every step of the way with our hybrid approach.

Family Intensive Programming

Our focus is on treating the whole family. Parents will be assigned a Parent Clinical Liaison who will guide family therapy sessions and be their main point of contact for clinical needs. Parents will attend family sessions with their child and participate in workshops. It is expected that parents will commit to their own goals as part of a master treatment plan alongside their child.

Families can visit every 4-6 weeks, depending on the needs and progress of their child. Communication will be based on students’ needs and will shift as the student progresses through the program. We want to provide our girls with the connections to their family that they need, while also allowing space for self-reflection and growth.
