Reclaiming Our Original Truths
ROOTs invites clients and families to authentically look at their own work and how the puzzle of their family system fits together. We have created an environment that allows individualization all along the way in order to allow the healing process to be specific to each client and family. Emphasis on outdoor and community engagement allow for clients to be out of the house and living in and experiencing the Park City community. Time in nature and in trying new activities allows for continued connection to clients’ physical and mental health outside of a therapy office. Frequent communication and in person visits with family allow for authentic connection as well as opportunities to practice the communication and skills the family and client have learned in their therapeutic process.
ROOTs Transition was intentionally built to support clients assigned female at birth between the ages of 15 and 18. With focus on reclaiming the original truths of clients and families ROOTs creates a safe environment for the whole family to heal. Learn more about our Client Profile here.
Clients are leaving the house 4-6 days a week to participate in outdoor recreation and communication engagement activities. Outdoor activities range from mountain biking, stand up paddle boarding, hiking, skiing and beyond. We have a fantastic local community gym where clients will get physical exercise around 4 days a week. Examples of community engagement activities are local museums, volunteering with local non profits and visiting libraries.
Having downtime is an important part of the day both for rest and also to remember how to manage time and downtime and rediscovering activities that are fun. Downtime or personal time is built into the schedule every day of the week and clients can choose to use that time how they would like within reason.
Our ratios are at minimum 4 clients to 1 staff guide. Being a small program we frequently are well above that number with guides, support staff and leadership team members.
Therapists hold case loads of up to 6 clients.
We have a medical coordinator who works with families to schedule needed medical and dental appointments. Clients are taken to appointments and our team then follows up with parents and providers when needed.
We do not have a special education teacher however our small environment allows significant individualization and room for most any needed accommodations and support.
ROOTs has a registered dietician who meets with clients who need support around dietary needs and creates plans and accommodations.
ROOTs is a private pay program. We do provide monthly superbills and suggest speaking with insurance advocates in order to help with the reimbursement process. Although we deeply wish we could accept insurance, we know that the process of accepting insurance requires for the structure and control of the care provided to be controlled by the insurance carriers as opposed to the professionals with extensive training and experience working directly with clients.
The work at ROOTs is structured towards clients leaving the treatment cycle. Work and planning towards transition after ROOTs starts very early in the stay. During the time at ROOTs clients and families are planning for the next step after ROOTs in order to make a smooth transition.
Parents are welcome to join our parent support calls as alumni families. During the time spent at ROOTs we work together extensively to plan for what support is needed and looks like after ROOTs.
