Emma Johnson, SUDC
Substance Abuse Counselor
Emma has always been fascinated by what it means to be human. She believes behaviors tell a story and that understanding people requires looking beyond symptoms to the relationships, environments, and experiences that have shaped them. As a social worker, she approaches healing through a systems lens, recognizing the ways families, communities, culture, and lived experience influence how we cope, connect, and grow. She is passionate about helping adolescents and families move beyond shame and into curiosity, creating relationships where people feel seen, understood, and safe enough to reconnect with who they are.
Emma earned her Master of Social Work and is both a Certified Social Worker (CSW) and Substance Use Disorder Counselor (SUDC). She is especially passionate about working with adolescents and families impacted by substance use, helping them reclaim a sense of self beyond addiction through an identity-focused, harm reduction approach. Together, they explore what substance use has been doing for them emotionally, relationally, and socially while building healthier ways of navigating life without needing to flee, numb, or disconnect. She believes healing rarely happens in isolation and considers it a privilege to walk alongside families as they strengthen relationships, shift longstanding patterns, and move toward one another with greater compassion. Emma has a deep appreciation for the healing potential of the outdoors and values integrating movement, adventure, and nature into the therapeutic process. She believes the outdoors has a unique way of inviting us back to ourselves. Through movement, nature, and shared experience, people often rediscover authenticity, connection to the earth, and the strength that comes from healing in community.
