Kami Black

Founder, Executive Director

Kami’s passion for supporting youth and their families came after she was able to engage in her own healing as an adolescent. She realized the importance of connection and relationships when addressing trauma and how true healing can not happen without it. Her desire to mentor others and give back became a part of who she is today and guides her career.

Kami has worked in various residential treatment settings in a variety of leadership roles over the past 20 years. She received her Masters in Social Work and is clinically trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Brainspotting, Somatic Experiencing, Trauma-Focused Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (TF-EAP) and NeuroAffect Relational Model (NARM).

Kami has dreamt of opening her own program for many years. She founded ROOTs Transition in 2020. With the combination of her passion, experience and an amazing team, she knows she can create a space of healing for all involved.
